Quick Start Guide

This guide walks you through logging in, navigating the dashboard, and performing common tasks in the Student Information System.

Logging In

Standard Login (Email and Password)

  1. Open your browser and navigate to the SIS login page.
  2. Enter your email address and password.
  3. Click Sign In.

A session cookie is set automatically when you log in. This keeps you authenticated as you navigate the system -- there is nothing extra you need to do.

First time logging in?

Your institution's administrator will provide your initial credentials. You may be prompted to change your password on first login.

Applicants can log in without a password using a magic link:

  1. On the login page, click Sign in with magic link.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your application.
  3. Check your inbox for an email from SIS containing a one-time login link.
  4. Click the link in the email to be signed in automatically.

WARNING

Magic links expire after a short time and can only be used once. If your link has expired, request a new one from the login page.

After logging in, you are taken to the main dashboard. The dashboard displays role-based tiles -- shortcuts to the features and tasks most relevant to your role. What you see depends on the roles assigned to your account.

RoleExample Dashboard Tiles
StudentMy Schedule, Register for Courses, Grades, Degree Audit, Billing
FacultyMy Courses, Grade Entry, Grade Roster
AdvisorMy Advisees, Degree Audits, Waivers, Graduation Clearance
RegistrarRegistration Management, Holds, Graduation, Transfer Credits
Admissions StaffApplications, Decisions, Communications, Forms
ApplicantApplication Status, Document Uploads, Checklist
Parent/GuardianStudent Schedule, Student Grades, Student Billing
AdministratorSystem Settings, Users, Roles, Permissions, Academic Configuration

Click any tile to navigate directly to that feature.

In addition to dashboard tiles, a sidebar menu provides access to all areas of the system available to your role. Use the sidebar to navigate between modules such as Registration, Academics, People, and Administration.

Role Switching

Some users hold more than one role -- for example, a graduate student who also teaches, or a faculty member who also advises. If your account has multiple roles:

  1. Look for the role selector in the navigation area.
  2. Click it to see your available roles.
  3. Select the role you want to switch to.

The dashboard and available menu items will update to reflect the selected role.

Common Tasks

Searching for Courses

  1. Navigate to Registration > Course Search from the sidebar.
  2. Select a term from the dropdown.
  3. Enter search criteria such as subject, course number, title, or instructor.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Click on a course in the results to view details, including section times, locations, and available seats.

Updating Your Profile

  1. Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Select My Profile.
  3. Update your contact information, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses as needed.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Viewing Notifications

Check the notification area (typically indicated by a bell icon) for important messages, such as registration confirmations, hold alerts, or grade postings.

Session Timeout

Your session will expire after a period of inactivity. Your institution sets how long that is, and it may be shorter while you are acting in some roles. When this happens:

  • You will be redirected to the login page.
  • Any unsaved work may be lost, so save your changes frequently.
  • Simply log in again to start a new session.

TIP

If you are working on a long task such as grade entry, save your progress periodically to avoid losing data due to session timeout.

Logging Out

To log out of the system:

  1. Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Log Out.

Your session will be ended and you will be returned to the login page. Always log out when using a shared or public computer.
