A major links to a degree, not to a degree level — degree_level_id is a column on degrees, not here. There are no is_stem or accreditation columns.

Validation Rules
- Major Code must be unique within the bulletin/catalog year
- Total Credits Required typically matches degree level default
- End Date must be on or after Effective Date
- Cannot change Bulletin if students are enrolled
