Course Materials
Permission node: ACADEMIC.COURSES (catalogue), REGISTRATION.SECTIONS (per section) API: /api/v1/academic/course-materials, /api/v1/academic/sections/{sectionID}/materials
Course materials are the textbooks and resources attached to a course or to a specific section of it — what a student needs to buy or access.
Two levels
| Level | Endpoint | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Catalogue | /academic/course-materials/{courseMaterialID} | The default material for the course |
| Section | /academic/sections/{sectionID}/materials | What this particular offering actually uses |
A section inherits nothing automatically: attaching a material to a section is an explicit act. An instructor using a different edition attaches it to their section; the catalogue entry stays as the course default.
| Action | Endpoint |
|---|---|
| Get a catalogue material | GET /academic/course-materials/{courseMaterialID} |
| Update | PATCH /academic/course-materials/{courseMaterialID} |
| Delete | DELETE /academic/course-materials/{courseMaterialID} |
| List a section's materials | GET /academic/sections/{sectionID}/materials |
| Attach one to a section | POST /academic/sections/{sectionID}/materials |
There is no bulk push
Older documentation described a POST /course-materials/{id}/push that would copy a catalogue material out to every section. It does not exist. Materials are attached per section, one at a time.
Timing
Attach materials before registration opens for the term where possible. Students choosing between sections often use the reading list to decide, and a bookshop ordering from an empty list orders nothing.
