Proxy Access (Parent/Guardian)
Proxy access allows parents, guardians, and other authorized individuals to view a student's academic and financial records in a read-only capacity. All proxy access must be granted by the student -- the institution does not set up proxy access on behalf of families.
What Is Proxy Access?
Under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), students who are 18 or older control access to their own educational records. The proxy access system provides a way for students to voluntarily share specific categories of their data with trusted individuals.
As a proxy, you can view student data but you cannot make changes, register for courses, pay bills, or take any action on the student's behalf.
How It Works
- The student sends you an invitation from their account, specifying your email address and what data you may view.
- You receive an email with a link to accept the invitation.
- You accept the invitation and set up a password if you are a new user.
- You log in to the proxy dashboard to view the student's authorized data.
What Can Proxies See?
Access is divided into two categories that the student controls independently:
| Access Type | Data Available |
|---|---|
| Academic | Grades, GPA, class schedule, enrollment status, academic holds |
| Financial | Account balance, billing transactions, payment history |
The student chooses which categories to grant when creating the invitation. They can grant academic access, financial access, or both.
Access Expiration
Proxy access can have an expiration date set by the student. After the expiration date, you will no longer be able to view that student's data. The student can also revoke access at any time from their account.

Multiple Students
If you have been granted proxy access for more than one student (for example, two children attending the same institution), all students appear on your dashboard. Each student's access type and expiration are managed independently.
