Accepting an Invitation
Before you can view a student's records, you must accept the proxy access invitation that the student sends you. This page walks through the acceptance process step by step.
Step 1: Receive the Invitation Email
The student creates a proxy invitation from their account by entering your email address, your name, the relationship type (e.g., Parent, Guardian), and which data categories to share (academic, financial, or both).
You will receive an email containing a link to accept the invitation. This link is a one-time use magic link.
TIP
If you do not see the invitation email, check your spam or junk folder. The email is sent from the institution's system email address.
Step 2: View Invitation Details
Click the link in the email. You will be taken to the invitation acceptance page, which displays:
- Student name -- The student who invited you.
- Access types -- What data you will be able to view, shown as tags:
- Academic -- Grades, transcripts, holds.
- Financial -- Billing, payments.
- Expiration date -- When your access will expire (if the student set one).
Step 3: Accept the Invitation
Review the invitation details and click Accept Invitation.
If You Already Have an Account
If the email address in the invitation matches an existing user account, your proxy access is activated immediately. You will be redirected to the proxy dashboard.
If You Are a New User
If you do not already have an account in the system, you will be prompted to set a password:
- Enter a password (minimum 8 characters).
- Confirm the password by entering it again.
- Click Create Account.
The system creates your account and logs you in automatically. You will be redirected to the proxy dashboard.
Step 4: Success
After successful acceptance, you will see a confirmation message:
"You now have proxy access to [Student Name]'s records."
You will be automatically redirected to the proxy dashboard within a few seconds.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid or expired invitation link"
Invitation links expire after a set period. If your link has expired:
- Ask the student to send a new invitation from their account.
- Make sure you are using the most recent invitation email if the student has sent multiple invitations.
"No invitation token provided"
This error occurs if the link in the email was not copied correctly. Try clicking the link directly from the email rather than copying and pasting it.
Password Requirements
When creating your account, the password must be at least 8 characters long. The system provides a strength indicator to help you choose a strong password.
