Degree Audit

Track your progress toward graduation with the degree audit tool.

What is a Degree Audit?

A degree audit compares your completed and in-progress coursework against your degree requirements to show:

  • Requirements you've completed
  • Requirements still needed
  • Courses that could fulfill remaining requirements

Running Your Audit

  1. Navigate to Academics > Degree Audit
  2. Your current audit loads automatically
  3. Review each requirement block

Understanding the Audit

Requirement Status

IconStatusMeaning
✅CompleteRequirement satisfied
🔄In ProgressCurrently enrolled in course(s) that will satisfy
❌Not CompleteStill needs to be satisfied
⚠️Needs ReviewMay need advisor attention
—Not EvaluatedThe audit could not judge this one — ask your advisor

Why "credits remaining" may not match your arithmetic

It is not "credits required minus credits earned". It is built from the requirements you have not yet met, so you can have a healthy credit total and still see credits remaining — because the credits you hold do not satisfy what is left.

If that number looks wrong, it is usually telling you something real about which requirements are outstanding. Your advisor can see the same breakdown.

Some requirement groups are choices, not a list

Where a requirement offers several groups, they are often alternatives — pick one concentration of three — rather than three things you all have to do. The audit knows which, from the catalog. Do not assume every group shown is owed.

If you are in more than one program, you get an audit for each one, and each is judged on its own.

Audit Sections

Your audit is organized into blocks:

  • Degree Requirements - Institution-wide requirements
  • Major Requirements - Courses for your major
  • Minor Requirements - Courses for your minor (if declared)
  • General Education - Core curriculum requirements
  • Electives - Free elective credits

Requirement Details

Click any requirement to see:

  • Courses that satisfy the requirement
  • Courses you've completed
  • Courses still needed
  • Substitutions or waivers applied

What-If Analysis

Explore different academic paths:

  1. Click What-If Analysis
  2. Select hypothetical changes:
    • Different major
    • Add/remove minor
    • Different catalog year
  3. Click Run What-If
  4. Review the projected audit

TIP

What-if analysis doesn't change your actual record—it's just for planning.

Course Substitutions

If a course substitution has been approved:

  • The substitute course shows with a note
  • The original requirement shows as satisfied
  • Contact your advisor to request new substitutions

Waivers

Requirements may be waived in certain situations:

  • Transfer credit evaluation
  • Prior learning assessment
  • Departmental approval

Waived requirements show with a waiver note.

GPA Requirements

Many programs have GPA requirements:

  • Overall GPA - Minimum cumulative GPA
  • Major GPA - Minimum GPA in major courses
  • Grade Requirements - Minimum grade for specific courses

Your audit shows if you're meeting these requirements.

Planning Courses

The audit is where you plan and register:

  1. Click Plan on a requirement that is not yet met.
  2. Choose a course and a section. The dialog checks prerequisites, corequisites, schedule conflicts, your credit load, course sequencing and repeat limits.
  3. The course appears in the Planned Courses panel.
  4. When registration is open for you, click Register Planned Courses beside the term to submit it for approval.

A requirement you passed below its minimum grade shows as not met, and you can plan it again (the retake). Full sections can be waitlisted, and your waitlists appear under My Waitlists.

See Course Registration for the whole process.

Printing the Audit

  1. Click Print in the audit toolbar
  2. Choose format:
